Rebike raises 24 million euros

The Munich-based startup Rebike Mobility has successfully completed another financing round, raising a total of €24 million. Circularity Capital is the lead investor, with Tengelmann Ventures and Parkshore Holding as co-investors. Existing investors Vorwerk Ventures and BayBG Bayerische Beteiligungsgesellschaft are also participating.

Rebike operates two different platforms and thus pursues two different business models: On www.rebike.de The startup sells new and used e-bikes from various manufacturers and on www.ebike-abo.de It offers subscription models. According to the startup, it has already helped 30,000 people get started or switch to an e-bike since its launch in 2018. Corporate customers such as rental shops, hotels, and medium-sized companies can also sign up for fleet subscriptions with the startup. And in highly frequented tourist locations, the Munich offers e-bikes for short-term rental in our own stores.

Equity plus debt

The financing round consists of two parts. First, equity financing of €19 million will be invested in the expansion of the new refurbishment and logistics center at the Kempten site. Furthermore, international expansion into France, the Netherlands, and Switzerland is planned for implementation this year. Further technical development of both platforms is also planned.

In addition, there is debt financing in the amount of five million euros, which was concluded with Varengold Bank. The two founders, Thomas Bernik and Sven Erger, intend to use this capital to further finance the subscription business.

"To further strengthen our growth momentum, we have gained Circularity Capital, an internationally operating financial investor whose investment philosophy is a perfect fit for us. Together with co-investors Tengelmann Ventures and Parkshore Holding, and existing investors Vorwerk Ventures and BayBG, we can drive our international expansion and further expand our leading market position,"

explains Rebike founder Thomas Bernik.

Investors praise Rebike

"Rebike has already established itself as a specialist for used e-bikes in the e-bike market, and we support its sustainable and circular approach as well as its international expansion with our expertise. Together, we want to take Rebike to the next level,"

says Andrew Shannon, founding partner of Circularity Capital.

"We are very much looking forward to working with Rebike on their mission to make premium e-bikes more accessible to everyone. The e-bike market is a market of the future for us, and we want to shape it with Rebike,"

supplemented Patrick Schaich, who is responsible for the investment in Rebike as Managing Director at Tengelmann Ventures.

“For us, Rebike’s business model fits perfectly into the changing mobility of the future, in which the European e-bike market and especially the secondary market is only at the beginning of its development,”

so Manuel Fries from Parkshore Holding GmbH.
