10 million euros: Successful Series B for Rebike

The Munich-based startup Rebike Mobility has successfully completed its €10 million Series B financing round. BayBG Bayerische Beteiligungsgesellschaft is the lead investor. Existing investors Vorwerk Ventures and STS Ventures also participated in the Series B round. The debt portion was arranged by Maturus Finance.

Rebike Mobility operates two different platforms and thus pursues two different business models: On www.rebike.de The startup sells new and used e-bikes from various manufacturers and on www.ebike-abo.de It offers subscription models. Rebike founders Thomas Bernik and Sven Erger now plan to invest the fresh capital from the Series B in the rapidly growing subscription business. They also want to use it to finance the company's further expansion and further strengthen their market position.

"With the e-bike subscription, we enable people to get started with or switch to an e-bike without a large investment. Our range of affordable used e-bikes on rebike.de also captures the spirit of the times. Our business has developed very dynamically as a result. Now is the right time to further expand our market position and scale our business. With BayBG, we have gained another financially strong investor who will support us long-term."

explains Rebike founder Thomas Bernik.

“E-bikes are the means of transport of the moment”

BayBG sees “enormous potential in the company,” says Otto Hopfner, Investment Manager at BayBG:

"The facts speak for themselves. According to the Bicycle Industry Association (ZIV), almost two million electric bicycles were sold in 2020, 43.4 percent more than the previous year. E-bikes are the mode of transport of the moment, as more and more people want to get around sustainably and healthily. We are very much looking forward to working with Rebike on their mission to shape the mobility of tomorrow and make e-bikes accessible to everyone."

And also Dirk Meurer, Managing Partner of Vorwerk Ventures, sees his investment as a validation:

"Since its founding just over two years ago, Rebike Mobility has been able to continuously and very successfully build and expand its business. This is an outstanding performance by the entire team, which impressively demonstrates that Rebike is on the right track with its corporate strategy. We continue to see strong potential and are therefore pleased to participate in the Series B round."

The startup Rebike was founded in 2018 and, in addition to e-bike purchase and subscriptions, also offers e-bikes for short-term rental in its own stores at highly frequented tourist locations. Since July 2020, Rebike has also been operating its e-bike subscription service in Austria. Rebike's annual revenue in 2020 was just under €7 million.
