Agtech: Munich-based startups from the agricultural sector

Agtech stands for 'Agricultural Technology' and encompasses all technical innovations that make agriculture, horticulture, and aquaculture more digital, data-driven, and sustainable. And some Munich-based startups are also getting involved. We introduce you to five of them.

agrilution GmbH
The theme of Agrilution is vertical farming. The Munich startup's 'Plantcube' is designed to enable customers to grow vegetables, lettuce, and herbs from seed mats in their own kitchens. This works because the fully automated, refrigerator-sized greenhouses offer a closed ecosystem with seed mats, light, climate, and automated irrigation. The system is controlled via its own cloud platform: An app provides information about the growth process and offers tips on maintenance and harvesting. At the end of 2019, Agrilution had to file for bankruptcy. but was taken over by Miele at the beginning of the following yearInterested parties can purchase the 'Plantcube' for just under 2,000 euros.
