This year's winners of LaMonachia, the Munich business award, include Rosie Schuster, founder and managing director of the video production and livestreaming service provider Techcast, Catherine Schreiber, deputy managing director of the medtech startup Advitos, Yao Wen, co-founder of the CIP Group, and Katja Zukic, managing partner of the Gustav van Treeck Mosaic and Stained Glass Workshops. Mayor Katrin Habenschaden presented the award and said:
"I am delighted by the many applicants and thank them on behalf of the City of Munich. With their business ideas, their innovative strength, and above all, their tireless entrepreneurial commitment, they enrich Munich as a business location. As economically successful women, they are important role models."
The award winners were selected by a jury, including Ann-Kristin Achleitner, a member of the supervisory board of numerous companies, and Nicole Stocker, owner of Hofpfisterei. The jury's criteria for the decision this year were again economic success, innovation, and commitment. In addition, the applicants had to have their company headquarters in the Munich metropolitan area and have been successfully operating in the market for at least three years. Delia Fischer, now Delia Lachance, the founder of Westwing, had already won the Lamonachia Prize.
Think a little bigger
One of this year’s award winners, Rosie Schuster, is also delighted with the recognition:
"I'm delighted with this award and hope it encourages other women to think bigger and implement their ideas. My thanks go to my team and Techcast's customers. Without the exceptional innovativeness of our employees and the tremendous trust of our customers, Techcast's success would not be possible."
For those wondering what the name of the business award means: 'La Monachia' is the Latin name and allegory of the feminine Munich, depicted in two large paintings in Munich City Hall. The symbol of the LaMonachia Award is the lioness, who radiates strength, composure, and natural authority.
