Sono Motors has announced the official launch of the new prototype generation of its solar-powered electric car, the Sion. Reservation holders and other supporters learned about the news yesterday in a live digital event hosted by the company, which was broadcast online. new funding and community support Sono Motors began working on the new prototypes in early 2020.

Within a year, the company has now realized the next prototype generation of the Sion. Denis Azhar, Group Lead Sion at Sono Motors, said:
"For the first time, we have now installed parts in the Sion that are intended for series production. We owe this successful production to our strong partnerships with suppliers and employees at the Roding plant."
With the production of the prototypes, Sono Motors is taking another big step towards series production.
The construction of the prototypes coincided with the global COVID-19 pandemic, which had far-reaching effects on the entire automotive industry. Sono Motors had just started the newly funded project when the company had to adapt its processes to the unforeseen situation. However, the targeted milestones for the second prototype in 2020 were met: program restart in spring, CAD handover in summer, and completion of the second prototype generation in winter.

Unveiling at CES
The founders announced that the new generation of prototypes will be presented to the public at CES. The Consumer Electronics Show is one of the world's largest trade fairs for the electronics industry. In 2021, CES – which will take place from January 11 to 14 – will be held in a completely digital format for the first time.
