Neolexon, founded in 2017 at LMU Munich, won the 2020 Digital Health Award for its innovative speech therapy solution. This award comes with prize money of €25,000. According to founders Hanna Jakob and Mona Späth, the prize money will be used to advance the further development of Neolexon's apps.
Neolexon impressed with speech therapy apps
The Munich-based startup offers a digital speech therapyAn app helps people with impaired speech centers relearn how to speak. The speech therapy app is particularly useful after a stroke or brain tumor and is paid for by health insurance. Another app is aimed at children with impaired speech development. The apps support patients in relearning how to speak, parallel to their treatment with a speech therapist.

Second and third place in the Digital Health Award go to Berlin
Second and third place went to two Berlin-based companies. Open.IU, an online application for the prevention, early detection, and treatment of internet addiction, received €15,000 in prize money. €10,000 went to a research project for an artificial pancreas by Dedoc Labs.
For the third time, Novartis Pharma, Novartis Oncology, and Sandoz Germany presented the Digital Health Award, endowed with a total of 50,000 euros, virtually for the first time in 2020. This year, founders were sought in the areas of Big Data, Patient Journey, Digital Therapeutics, and Female Founders.
