IDnow has been working with the Wirecard subsidiary for five years. Now the company, which primarily offers call center services, will become part of the Munich startupsThe Leipzig location and the majority of the 150 employees are to be retained.
IDnow offers online verification services. Bank customers who wish to open an account online can use the Munich startup to verify their identity online, saving them a trip to the bank or Deutsche Post, which offers identification at its branches. The company was founded in 2014 by Dennis von Ferenczy, Sebastian Bärhold, Armin Bauer, and Felix Haas. The four are no strangers to the startup scene – they sold their ticketing company Amiando, founded in 2006, to Xing for more than 10 million euros in 2011. Felix Haas is one of the three organizers of the Founder Festival Bits & Pretzels.

The company states that demand for digital processes has increased significantly again in recent months, particularly since the COVID-19 restrictions. The acquisition is intended to enhance service quality and thus improve response and waiting times for customers.
The employees of the Wirecard subsidiary were already informed about the takeover by the insolvency administrator at a staff meeting on Monday.
