New accelerator GesundZusammen seeks ideas against Corona

The GesundZusammen initiative, under whose umbrella leading companies in the digital sector, associations, and scientific institutions have joined forces in the fight against COVID-19, has launched its accelerator of the same name. Startups, researchers, and inventors can submit their ideas until April 17.

Together with the interdisciplinary technology festival Tech Open Air (TOA), GesundZusammen is seeking digital solutions to contain COVID-19. At least five organizations will be selected and each will receive €20,000 (no equity). The winners will also have free access to partner resources and receive a six-week acceleration program for product development, partnership building, user acquisition, and further funding.

The focus is on solutions for the DACH region, but applicants can also be based outside of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Startups, researchers, and inventors can apply until April 17 at www.gesund-zusammen.de. The first batch will conclude with a virtual demo day on June 1.

The HealthyTogether initiative

GesundZusammen was launched by the insurtech startup Wefox, Via, a company of the Global Citizen Foundation, and the fintech ecosystem Finleap. The goal of the initiative—like the accelerator—is to support projects that use digital solutions to combat COVID-19 and its consequences. These solutions are intended to better protect at-risk groups and ease the burden on the healthcare system. Data protection and privacy are top priorities, which is why the initiative is receiving expert support from data protection experts, among others. Julian Teicke, Founder & CEO Wefox Group, explains:

"The most important basis is data protection—because even in times of crisis, people's freedom and personal rights are our top priority. We ensure that, despite the broad data basis, everything follows the principles of data protection."

In addition to the TOA, the Federal Association of German Startups as well as companies like N26, Celonis, Personio, Delivery Hero, BCG Digital Ventures, GetYourGuide, FreightHub, and others are part of the initiative. Additional partners can also register with GesundZusammen.
