Are you looking for inspiration, trends or new contacts, ideally in the USA? Then apply to the City of Munich by January 15, 2020 for SXSW 2020 in Austin, Texas.
The City of Munich is once again planning to support five startups on their trip to SXSW 2020 (South by Southwest) in Austin, Texas. As in previous years, five startups from the media and cultural and creative industries will have the chance to receive an interactive ticket and a travel grant of €1,000.
What awaits you in Austin?
SXSW 2020 will take place from March 13 to 22, 2020. The main part of the interactive program will be from March 13 to 17, 2020.
The following topics are included in the official program for SXSW Interactive 2020:
Advertising and brand experience, health and medtech, startups, workplace, design, fantastic future, tech industry and enterprise, climate and social action, connection and culture, experimental storytelling, government and politics, media and journalism, sports, game industry and cross reality (XR).
Which startup wants to go to SXSW 2020?
The state capital of Munich supports young, innovative companies that seek inspiration and further development during a trip to the world's largest cultural and creative industries festival. During and around SXSW, Austin is the meeting place for founders from all over the world. Major US companies will also be represented. This makes it a great place for startups to network. At least that's what some teams that were in Austin in 2019 told us.
At SXSW 2020, there will also be an opportunity to pitch business ideas, either on stage or in passing, on the sidelines of the many on-site events.
How can you apply?
The application should include the following information:
- Age of the company, number of employees and turnover
- How long the company has been on the market and whether it is already active in the USA
- In which industry the company operates
- Which business idea could be pitched in Austin
- Cover letter: Why does a trip to SXSW make sense for the company at this time? What are the expectations for the visit?
As you can see, it's worth applying. The program is aimed at startups from the cultural and creative industries, i.e., from the music, book, visual arts, film and broadcasting industries, performing arts, design, architecture, press, advertising, and software/games sectors.
The deadline for applications is January 15, 2020.
