Federal President Steinmeier honors Celonis founders

The three founders of the Munich-based process mining company Celonis, Alexander Rinke, Martin Klenk, and Bastian Nominacher, were awarded the German Future Prize by Frank-Walter Steinmeier. The Federal President's Prize for Technology and Innovation is endowed with €250,000.

Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier has invited the founders of the Munich Unicorn Celonis was awarded the German Future Prize 2019. Celonis claims to be the market leader for AI-supported process mining software. Customers include 3M, Airbus, Danaher, L'Oréal, Lufthansa, Siemens, and Uber.

“The Federal President’s Award recognizes future-oriented innovation from Germany and is a great recognition for the hard work of the last eight years for us founders and the entire Celonis team,”

says Alexander Rinke, Co-CEO of Celonis.

"At the same time, it's a great demonstration that the general public also recognizes the potential of our process mining technology for shaping the future. This goes far beyond simply improving processes in organizations and significantly changes the everyday lives of every individual."

Steinmeier awards prize and 250,000 euros

The German Future Prize has been awarded annually since 1997 for outstanding research and development projects. Key factors in the jury's decision are the degree of scientific and technological innovation and the potential to translate this achievement into sustainable jobs.

Rinke, Nominacher, and Klenk plan to use the €250,000 prize money to support other innovative projects. The three founders commented:

"We wouldn't have come this far so quickly on our journey if outsiders hadn't helped us time and again. We're very grateful for this and would like to pass it on to others."
