The virtual reality startup VRdirect, founded in 2018, has successfully completed a financing round. In addition to previous shareholder SEK Ventures, which is backed by the three Flixbus founders, is investing BayBG in the Munich-based company.
The VRdirect enables the integration of 360-degree images or videos into VR projects using an intuitive user interface. No programming knowledge is required. The created content can be published and updated in real time via any VR-enabled device, smartphone, or web browser.
Siemens, E.ON, and Porsche use the Munich-based company's solution to deliver internal training and continuing education content. Deutsche Welle uses VRdirect for its "DW World Heritage 360" app. Users can virtually experience UNESCO World Heritage sites like Bamberg's Old Town. The WDR app "WDR 360" enables a virtual journey through time through Cologne Cathedral.

Flixbus founder and investor Daniel Krauss says:
"VRdirect has developed strongly in 2019 and has established a leading market position in the field of virtual reality solutions for enterprises. We are confident of its success and, with this renewed investment, are combining our startup experience with the solidity of BayBG as a financing partner."
VRdirect founder and managing director Rolf Illenberger announced that he will use the capital from the current financing round to expand into additional industries and applications. Details of the invested amount are not known.
