The Munich-based startup Audeering was honored with the VDE Award 2019 in the Startups category. Audeering impressed the jury with its intelligent speech analysis method, which is an integral part of several public research projects.
Audeering was founded in 2012 as a spin-off from the Technical University of Munich (TUM). With its intelligent speech analysis method and the aid of artificial intelligence (AI), the startup can analyze over 50 different emotions and speaker states from the speech signal of the human voice and also capture the acoustic context. The founders, scientists at the Chair of Human-Machine Communication at TUM, were the first in the world to successfully apply deep learning methods for affective computing in the audio field.
Outstanding achievements in technical and scientific fields
This technology can be used in industries such as transportation, automotive, market research, smart devices, and communications. Audeering is also heavily involved in research projects, primarily in the health sector, thus contributing to AI research and application in the medical field.
The innovative company has now been honored with the VDE Award 2019. The award is presented annually by the VDE Association for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies for outstanding achievements in the technical and scientific fields.
Further driving innovations in AI
Dagmar Schuller, CEO and Co-Founder of Audeering, is delighted with the award:
"The VDE Award 2019 validates our commitment to making intelligent speech analysis technology available to people worldwide. Being among the honored companies also encourages us to dedicate a significant portion of our work to research into ever-new application areas. It is important to us to continue driving innovations in the field of AI and thus establish Germany as a leading international location. We share this goal with the VDE."
