'Next Level' 2019: Food crowdfunding competition launched

Until October 29, 19 food and beverage start-ups will be competing in the Food Startupcompetition 'Next Level' 2019 against each other. The startup that convinces the most supporters wins.

The winners of the 'Next Level' 2019 competition will receive €10,000 in funding and an exhibition booth in the Startup Area of the Food & Life trade fair. The crowdfunding competition was initiated by the Nutrition Cluster at the Competence Center for Nutrition (KERN). The ideas range from sustainable solutions to food waste and insect proteins to vegan diets.

These are the Munich startups at 'Next Level' 2019

This time, some startups from Munich and the surrounding area are also participating: Yammbits produces energy-rich fruit balls, Wicked Cricket (The Green Grille) wants to finance a farm for protein-rich crickets, Trockenkasperl offers healthy broth for on the go with its 'broth-to-go' product. Fruchtschmaus, on the other hand, processes supposedly waste products and is committed to combating food waste. From the beverage industry, Pläin is developing a plant-based milk that tastes like cow's milk, Salto is aiming to add flavor to water, offering a sugar-free juice concentrate made from fruit and stevia extracts, and Zeitpulver, with plant-based smoothies.

During the funding phase, which runs until October 29th, the goal is to gain the most backers. Supporters are defined as all those who purchase a thank-you gift from crowdfunding projects on Startnext. The amount of funds raised is not the deciding factor; therefore, every small amount counts. The Nutrition Cluster is awarding three cash prizes: €5,000, €3,000, and €2,000 to the top three winners. The first-place winner will have their own booth at the Food & Life trade fair. Another great bonus: The three winners of 'Next Level' 2019 automatically qualify for the food startup pitch at the trade fair, which will also receive additional prizes.
