Wastebuddy wins at Generation-D

The social entrepreneurship competition Generation-D has also won a Munich-based company called Wastebuddy. social enterprises Five teams made it to the final round and were able to pitch their ideas to the jury and audience.

The Munich-based startup Wastebuddy is developing an organic waste bag that is designed to make waste separation more convenient and practical. Many people don't realize it, but the plastic waste bags currently marketed as compostable decompose too slowly for organic waste. Therefore, the Waste Management Munich to use old newspaper or paper instead.

Wastebuddy as an alternative to organic waste bags

Wastebuddy impressed with the pitch and took second place at Generation-D.

One alternative could be Wastebuddy's garbage bag. Made from recycled paper, it's extra tear-resistant and less prone to water leaks than conventional paper bags. Yet it's fully compostable and conveniently delivered to your doorstep. With its idea, the Wastebuddy team won second prize in the Generation D competition and received €5,000 in prize money.

The first prize, worth €7,500, went to the Darmstadt-based startup Novapace. The founding team is developing a shoe insole designed to make walking safer for Parkinson's patients. When a patient is unsteady, the sole vibrates to draw the patient's attention to their steps. This is intended to prevent falls. Novapace also impressed the audience, winning the Audience Award. This secured the team a €5,000 consulting voucher from KPMG.

The Bielefeld-based company Lytt won third place, worth €2,500, with its digital assistant. The assistant is designed to support companies when harassment or bullying occurs in the workplace.
