SAP Foundry opens location in Munich and seeks startups for 1st batch

Software manufacturer SAP recently opened a new location for its startup accelerator, SAP Foundry, in Munich. The accelerator program is seeking B2B startups developing e-commerce solutions or applications for multichannel customer loyalty until July 1st.

SAP has been running its own accelerator program, SAP.io, since 2017. The software manufacturer invests in internal and external early-stage startups. Munich is the latest location to open – the eighth SAP Foundry, alongside Berlin, New York, Paris, San Francisco, Singapore, Tel Aviv, and Tokyo. The focus of SAP.io Foundry in Munich focus on e-commerce, marketing, sales, customer data and service as well as CRM software.

Philippe Souidi, Head of Foundry Munich, on the new location:

“As one of Germany's leading business and science centers, Munich is an ideal home for emerging high-tech startups.”

What awaits the startups?

Around ten teams will be selected for the accelerator. A 12-week in-house program will then begin in Munich in September. The startups' solutions will then be connected to SAP's own customer experience solutions via an SAP Cloud Platform.

Participating startups gain access to SAP customers and a partner network. SAP experts and mentors provide support with B2B challenges such as go-to-market, marketing, technology scaling, pricing, and product management. There are also workshop sessions on topics such as HR, sales, financing, and legal issues related to IP and other intellectual property rights.

What do startups need to bring to the SAP Foundry?

The program is looking for startups with innovative ideas for an optimal shopping experience for the end customer. This could be in the areas of marketing, purchasing, customer service, or cloud services. Startups wishing to participate must have a finished product and initial customers. The customer portfolio should be internationally scalable. SAP does not take any share of the startups' participation in the program.

For Munich, the UnternehmerTUM as a cooperation partner, scouts the startups and designs the content of the program together with Philippe Souidi, the head of Foundry Munich.
