The Munich-based nutrition startup Vitafy acquires Gymqueen. The German women's fitness brand's products are already on the shelves of two drugstore chains.
Only in December 2018 The Munich-based company raised €10 million in fresh capital from Cipio Partners and Venture Stars. Now, the Munich-based nutrition startup is acquiring Gymqueen. The acquired brand was founded in 2015 by Steffen Reppel and Markus Seekamp and offers fitness food for women. The portfolio includes approximately 60 fitness food products and is listed online as well as in brick-and-mortar stores, including at drugstore chains Müller and BIPA. Vitafy Managing Director and Co-Founder Georg Bader says:
"With Gymqueen, we have gained one of the leading fitness food brands for women, which optimally complements our brand portfolio. With Gymqueen, we also want to be more strongly represented in the ambitious female fitness athlete segment in the future and see great growth potential here both nationally and internationally."
“We will be in good hands with the Vitafy Group in the future”
His co-founder Christian Böhm says:
"The highly fragmented fitness market offers us very interesting strategic opportunities to expand our brand portfolio through targeted acquisitions and thus consolidate the market. By integrating brands, we have the opportunity to realize enormous synergies online and in brick-and-mortar retail, while simultaneously further advancing our private label strategy."

Gymqueen co-founder Steffen Reppel can be quoted as saying:
"In particular, Vitafy's expertise in brick-and-mortar retail and operational e-commerce know-how convinced us that we and our team will be in good hands within the Vitafy Group in the future and will be able to grow even faster."
