How can urban life be sustainably improved? — This question was to be addressed within the framework of the competition 'Startup Next Door' — initiated by ProjectTogether and MINI — investigated. An answer to this comes from Munich: because the startup UrmO made it to the winner's podium and can look forward to a trip to New York and a visit to URBAN-X, the startup accelerator from MINI and Urban Us.
City life in the 21st century needs to be reinvented — with solutions that address issues such as Connected Locals, Fair Living and Creative Use of Space boldly and innovatively. Against this backdrop, the Startup Next Door competition sought young companies with urban solutions. And they found what they were looking for: a total of 15 innovative projects and solutions were presented at the Demo Day in Berlin at the end of August.
Visit to the Big Apple
The Munich startup UrmO Together with the Free Space Platform, the young company will now travel to New York and visit URBAN-X, the startup accelerator run by MINI and Urban Us. All the other finalists also received valuable support, receiving support from their own personal MINI coach over the next six months.
UrmO impressed with its portable electric micro-vehicles. A folding mechanism and a low weight of just 6.5 kg allow users to efficiently cover short everyday distances, even when combined with public transport.
In order to successfully implement this vision, UrmO is launching a Kickstarter campaign on Kickstarter starting October 8, 2018.
