A real milestone: According to the Crowdinvest Insight break the 500 million euro mark in June 2018.
The Insight report from crowdfunding.de — Crowdinvest Insight — documents the developments in the crowdinvesting sector over the past few years. It examines the investment segments, participation models, the platform landscape, and the current investment status of the €500 million.
The following insights were gained:
- The total crowd capital invested in Germany reached the 500 million euro mark in June 2018.
- More than half of the 500 million euros invested since 2011 were placed within the last 15 months.
- Real estate projects currently represent the strongest growth and volume crowd investment segment.
- In terms of forms of participation, there was a shift from silent partnerships to subordinated loans.
- The three platforms with the highest sales account for over 50% of the total volume (280 million euros).
- The majority of crowd investments are still “active”.
- Berlin is the crowdinvesting capital with an inflow of crowd capital of 96 million euros.
Three platforms dominate the market
Another finding: Even though the number of active crowdfunding platforms has increased significantly in recent years, there are three top platforms that account for more than half of the total volume, namely €280 million. These include Exporo, Funding Circle, and Companisto. In total, the top eight platforms account for €851,454 of the total volume, or €424 million.
