Waterfilter — A successful project by Enactus
Waterfilter is one of Enactus Munich's successful startups. The project aims to empower people through entrepreneurial action to provide themselves and others with access to clean drinking water. Although access to water is a human right, 800 million people around the world lack clean drinking water. To change this, the team has developed a sustainable business concept using an easy-to-manufacture clay filter.
In a pilot project in Kigoma, Tanzania, a business model was developed in collaboration with the local population to produce the filter and sell it at a fair price. At the same time, training programs are being provided to raise awareness of clean drinking water. This is opening up new economic prospects and providing people with access to clean drinking water. Since the business model is now virtually self-sustaining, the next step will be to establish a second location, and at the same time, a concept for the rapid development of new locations, for example, in crisis areas, is being developed.
Do you want to join Enactus Munich? Application deadline is April 25, 2018.
