A Munich institution: Yesterday, startups once again showcased themselves at the ninth Munich Startup Demo Night at the Tonhalle. Organizer BayStartUp also honored the five winners of Phase 2 of the 2017 Munich Business Plan Competition.
Yesterday, the Tonhalle in the Werksviertel district once again attracted Munich's startup scene. At numerous booths, visitors could inspect the products of young companies from the region and chat with the founders. The offerings were as varied as ever: from reusable coffee cups from the startup Recup to the fashion app Combyne, from the live video provider HIGGS to the flying drone from Quantum Systems.
Highlight of the event: The selection of the five winners of the second phase of the Munich Business Plan Competition 2017. The winners were announced on stage by BayStartUP Managing Director Carsten Rudolph, his colleague from WERK1 Franz Glatz and Harald Wagner, Head of business plan competitions.
In first place was FerrosensThe Munich-based startup has developed a method to quickly, easily, and reliably detect iron deficiency — without the need for a single drop of blood. In second place is Quantum SystemsThe startup is building an unmanned drone that can take off vertically like a multicopter and fly at the speed of an airplane. Third place goes to Alethia Wood with their coatings of natural products. In fourth place is View with software that maps goods flows in warehouses in real time. Also among the five award winners: InveoxThe start-up develops intelligent containers for tissue samples. Carsten Rudolph says about the winners:
"The winning concepts convinced the jury because they are innovative and useful, as well as being very quickly implemented and scalable. There's real market potential behind them."
