Rehabilitation robots made in Munich – 7 questions for Reactive Robotics

Reactive Robotics They help with the early mobilization of patients in the intensive care unit. This saves both time and personnel, and ultimately money. The founders answer our questions in our 7 questions.

1. Who are you and what do you do? Please briefly introduce yourself and your product!

Reactive Robotics develops adaptive and intelligent medical robotics that automates early mobilization in intensive care units. Intensive care patients treated with early mobilization can leave the unit on average one day earlier. Manual early mobilization is costly, requiring up to three additional nurses. The company was founded in 2015 by Dr. Alexander König (37), who had previously conducted research in the field of rehabilitation robotics in Zurich and Boston. Today, the team consists of 11 employees.

2. But that's been around for a long time!

There are competing products, but they require a time-consuming and dangerous transfer to a separate device for the patient.

3. What are the three main ingredients for your recipe for success?

One key ingredient is enough: a great, motivated, and independent team. And a little luck.

4. Let’s get down to business: How is business going?

Things are going very well. But we can't provide any figures until we're on the market.

5. What does Munich mean to you?

The proximity to the Technical University of Munich, the DLR and ESA-BIC, the UnternehmerTUM, and BayStartUp are the most important. Alexander König, the founder and managing director, was born and raised here.

6. How will your startup become the next unicorn? Or will we see you soon at Epic Fail Night?

Failures, even epic fails, happen in every startup. That's part of the process. And whether we become a unicorn isn't important to us. We want to give as many patients as possible access to early mobilization. That's what drives us. Nevertheless, we are, of course, convinced that we will successfully establish ourselves in the market. The feedback from clinicians has been very positive.
