Project Q receives 7.5 million euros

Munich-based defense tech startup Project Q has secured €7.5 million in seed funding. The team plans to use the capital to further develop its AI-based sensor platform Q-OSP and expand new partnerships.

Project Q has raised €7.5 million in a seed funding round. The round was led by Berlin-based early-stage investor Project A. Also participating are Expeditions Fund from Warsaw and Superangel from Estonia.

Project Q was founded in 2024 by Leonard Wessendorff and Frank Christian Sprengel. The company develops technological solutions for the defense and security sector, pursuing the Internet of Defense (IoD) approach. The goal is to harness civilian technologies such as AI, cloud computing, and sensor technology for safety-critical applications.

The core of the project is the Q Open Source Platform (Q-OSP), a modular, open infrastructure platform. It connects sensors, existing systems, and data sources via cross-domain interfaces and uses artificial intelligence to create precise situational awareness in real time. This is intended to make operational decisions more efficiently and strengthen Europe's technological sovereignty in the defense sector.

Scaling with authorities and partners

With the fresh capital, Project Q plans to further develop the Q-OSP platform, expand its team, and implement initial pilot projects with European security and defense authorities. The startup is already working closely with public sector partners.

Founder Leonard Wessendorff brings experience from his work at a German defense company and reserve officer training. Together with co-founder Frank Christian Sprengel, he is driving an application-oriented development approach that combines commercial technologies with military requirements.

Technology platform with growth ambitions

With its solution, the startup addresses a central challenge of modern defense systems: The multitude of unmanned systems and sensors generates enormous amounts of data that have so far been difficult to convert into unified situational awareness. Project Q aims to remedy this with its scalable, interoperable platform.

With the current investment, Project Q joins Project A’s growing portfolio in the defence tech sector, which also includes Arx Robotics and Quantum Systems belong.
