Arx RoboticsARX Robotics, a Munich-based company specializing in unmanned ground systems (UGVs), has closed a €31 million Series A financing round. The round was led by HV Capital, with participation from Omnes Capital and existing investors NATO Innovation Fund and Project A. ARX Robotics plans to use the capital to further expand its role as a leading provider of modular, AI-driven robotics solutions, thereby contributing to Europe's defense sovereignty.
European defense in transition
The demand for advanced military technology is growing in Europe. Given geopolitical tensions, defense modernization is a focus for many countries. According to ARX Robotics, military land operations, accounting for 80 percent of military activities and 70 percent of personnel and material deployment, are currently under-automated. This is where the company's technology comes in.
“Demand for modular, software-defined defense systems is growing rapidly – and we are building the company that will shape this category in Europe,”
explained Marc Wietfeld, Co-founder and CEO of Arx Robotics.
"We have a clear mission: to build the next generation of defense infrastructure through scalable robotics and software. We are honored by the trust of our renowned investors who share and support this vision. This financing is an important milestone for ARX Robotics and a catalyst for our scaling."
Arx Robotics was founded in 2022 by former Bundeswehr officers Marc Wietfeld (CEO), Maximilian Wied (CFO), and Stefan Roebel (COO). The company develops AI-powered UGVs and the world's first independent AI operating system for existing vehicles – Arx Mithra OS. The goal is to support armed forces with digital solutions in situational awareness and fleet modernization.
Focus on scaling and European sovereignty
The new funding will be used to expand production capacity, drive expansion in Europe, and attract leading AI talent. Mithra OS will be further developed as the technological backbone for autonomous defense systems. Arx consistently pursues the goal of establishing a fully European supply chain and keeping critical technologies under European control.
"Arx demonstrates that Europe can develop internationally competitive defense technology—modern, AI-based, and confident. Arx's success and growth demonstrate the urgency and strength of their product. HV Capital is proud to support this outstanding team,"
so Fabian Gruner, Partner at HV Capital.
Arx Robotics already supplies six European armed forces, according to its own information. The largest Western-developed UGV fleet is in operation in Ukraine. The company has also been awarded a project by the European Defence Agency (EDA) as part of the first EU-wide defence innovation initiative.
"We are proud of the tremendous development Arx Robotics has made over the past year—from expanding its product portfolio for existing fleets to expanding geographically and building a world-class team. Arx has the largest Western UGV fleet operating in Ukraine, and we look forward to continuing to support the company on its growth trajectory within NATO."
supplemented Chris O'Connor, partner at the NATO Innovation Fund.
The Series A round paves the way for Arx Robotics to reach the next level of scaling.
