Fewer celebrities, more content: Day 1 of Bits & Pretzels 2024

For the 11th time, Bits & Pretzels brings together founders, investors, industry leaders, and other startup enthusiasts. And anyone worried that the format might seem a bit dated after all these years can rest assured – because compared to previous editions, Bits & Pretzels has changed quite a bit. We share our impressions from the first day of the fair.

Bits & Pretzels 2024
Bits & Pretzels has always been a place where tradition meets modernity, and nothing illustrates this more than the numerous traditional costumes on display at the startup festival. The welcome by moderator Florian Akinbiyi, supported this year by Lara Sofie Bothur, has also become a tradition. And the T-shirt cannon has also become an integral part of the festival. But after the welcoming remarks by State Secretary for Economic Affairs Tobias Ulrich Gotthard, the event departed from its usual routine. While in previous years, visitors could look forward to prominent guests such as Oliver Kahn and Arnold Schwarzenegger, who opened Bits & Pretzels with a bang, things were different this year. In fact, the event, which is also known for attracting celebrities such as Michelle Obama and Barack Obama to Munich, is completely omitting any outside names from the industry on its speaker list this year.
