Miriam Hook takes over management of the Insurtech Hub Munich

Lawyer and insurance manager Miriam Hook will take over as managing director of the Insurtech Hub Munich (ITHM) starting in May. Miriam Hook succeeds Christian Gnam, who, after almost five years as managing director of ITHM, has taken over as head of the Biotechnology Innovation and Startup Center (IZB) in Martinsried near Munich.

With the appointment of Miriam Hook, a management team of the ITHM Esther Prax and Jens Schindler, both of whom have worked for ITHM for several years, will be given additional responsibilities. In addition to her duties as Program Director, Esther Prax will assume the role of Deputy Managing Director. Finance Director Jens Schindler, together with Miriam Hook, will manage ITHM Innovation GmbH, which bundles ITHM's range of services.

“International lighthouse for the insurtech world”

Klaus Driever, Chairman of the Board of ITHM, is pleased with the appointment of the new management:

"We are delighted to have Miriam Hook as Managing Director for ITHM. With her expertise in insurance, innovation, and regulation, she will continue the hub's dynamic success story. The ITHM's position as an international beacon for the insurtech world will be further strengthened by Miriam Hook's appointment."

Miriam Hook began her insurance career after studying law at LMU Munich and working as a lawyer in New York, among other places. In 2004, she joined Munich Re as an underwriter and moved to Client Management and Treaty Underwriting UK. After a further stint as a class underwriter at Liberty Syndicates (Lloyd's of London), she joined Swiss Re in 2015. Most recently, she served as Vice President for Global Clients and was responsible for growth and innovation projects in the areas of mobility, sustainability, and cyber solutions in the DACH market.

Esther Prax has been developing the innovation programs and formats of the ITHM and is responsible for the hub's strategic direction. Previously, she worked as a consultant at Deloitte Digital, among others. Jens Schindler assumed his role at ITHM in 2020. Previously, he worked at Siemens Financial Services and Crédit Agricole.
