Blackwave develops and manufactures\u00a0highly complex carbon components<\/a>that cannot be manufactured using conventional manufacturing processes. The components are characterized by their low weight and high stability. Most recently, in February 2022, the company secured a Financing of four million euros<\/a> Now the seed round is being expanded by 6.1 million euros.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The financing round is led by Alpine Space Ventures<\/a>, which has previously invested in Blackwave. It was recently announced that the Munich-based VC increased its capital by 10 million euros, which it received from NATO Innovation Fund<\/a> Alpine Space Ventures specializes in early-stage investments in the space sector. The Munich-based investor focuses on technologies that it believes have the strongest market demand and the shortest path to commercialization: satellite connectivity and geodata. The VC has approximately \u20ac100 million in assets under management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pressure vessels for launch vehicles and satellites<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Back to Blackwave: The Munich-based startup plans to use its current investment to offer high-pressure carbon fiber tanks for launch vehicles, satellites, and other space-related applications. Bastian Behrens<\/strong>, CEO of Blackwave, says<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

"We are more than happy to finally present what we have been working on for 18 months and what no one has ever attempted before: commercially available pressure vessels for launch vehicles and satellites that are lightweight, affordable, and available within days."<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The concentration of New Space capital at Blackwave is no coincidence. Carbon components are significantly lighter than other materials. And since every gram counts in space travel, Blackwave's products are very interesting for the industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New Chief Operating Officer for Blackwave<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In addition to the financing, the company also announced that Jakob Berghofer, who previously worked for optical components manufacturer Zeiss and robotics company Kuka, will become Blackwave's new Chief Operating Officer.<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
