Traditionally, Slush opens its stage program with a techno spectacle, followed by a short welcome message. This year, Slush President Linda Bj\u00f6rkenheim, CEO Eerika Savolainen, and Aino Bergius (COO and CFO) greet the approximately 13,000 guests in the Helsinki exhibition hall. In doing so, they also set the agenda for the two-day event. After last year's event focused on current crises and possible technological solutions, this year's event is all about creating a better future through impact and sustainability. This year, the 13,000 visitors to Slush include around 5,000 startups and 3,000 investors \u2013 and thus even more founders and investors than in 2022.<\/a> According to the organizers, a total of over 20,000 meetings were booked between both parties via the Slush platform, which translates to approximately 1,000 conversations per hour. \"Slush<\/a>
On the Founder Stage \u2013 the main stage at Slush \u2013 the program oscillates between the big questions that arise during the startup journey on the one hand and inspiration on the other. Monzo, Accel, and Business Insider, for example, discuss how startups successfully overcome the hurdles on the road to scale-up. Formula 1 World Champion Nico Rosberg, on the other hand, draws parallels between his career as an athlete and his life as a founder. Two things stand out for him: the focus on the goal and the attention to detail. He talks about how, for example, eliminating paint on his helmet meant reducing the overall weight of his car \u2013 which translates into valuable fractions of a second in Formula 1. In his role as an investor, Rosberg is not only happy to use the C-level connections from his career to advance startups, but also to support founders with mental health coaching. What would a startup fair be without pitches? Founders from all over the world present their companies in the Startup Studio. Numerous topic clusters alternate over the course of the two days, catering to a wide range of interests, from fintech to computing & AI to energy. The Slush 100 semifinals will also take place on stage. 100 early-stage startups from Europe and North America will compete in the pitch competition, with the top 20 making it to the semifinals. The final, which takes place at the end of the second day on the Founder Stage, will determine which startup will receive the \u20ac1 million in funding from investors Accel, General Catalyst, Lightspeed Venture Partners, NEA, and Northzone. In addition to several corporates \u2013 including AWS, Google, and Astra Zeneca, which will have their own booths \u2013 the exhibition will primarily showcase various startup ecosystems. From Belgium to Cyprus, startups can learn about local conditions and possible support programs for settling in. At the same time, the local ecosystems and a few selected startups will also be presented. This is also the case at the Germany booth, which also offers founders the opportunity to present themselves and their ideas with the German Pitching Stage. Here, for example, discussions will cover how psychedelic substances can revolutionize psychiatry or how generative AI could sustainably change video games. Whether it's validating a problem, developing an MVP, or closing a seed round \u2013 here, startups, agencies, and investors will share tips for success.
