The vision of the Landbanking Group is to make natural capital such as soil or water investable and thus redirect capital flows into the conservation of nature. To this end, the Munich-based fintech has Investment platform Landler.io<\/a> launched. The solution aims to transform farmers and landowners into providers of natural capital and companies into natural capital investors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The development of the platform is supported by an international group of investors with Bonventure<\/a> in the lead with \u20ac10.4 million ($11 million). Natural capital pioneer Andr\u00e9 Hoffmann also participated in the seed round. Venture capital funds such as 4P Capital, Vanagon, and Planet A plan to contribute their expertise in marketing, ReFi, and impact measurement. In addition, the Sun Institute of the Deutsche Post Foundation and ten families and private investors are supporting the company's development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Erwin Stahl<\/strong>, Managing Partner at Bonventure, explains:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

"As a high-impact investment fund, we consider nature and biodiversity crucial to our shared future. The Landbanking Group has developed a groundbreaking platform that makes nature transparent and investable. With our investment, we wanted to be part of this venture from the very beginning."<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The 40-person land banking team strives to create "the hardest currency for natural capital" by merging scientific knowledge and accounting practices into a transparent and regulatory-compliant method for investing in natural capital. The Landler.io platform combines various technologies: Earth observation, digital in-situ data, machine learning, and decentralized ledgers. It can thus assign a natural capital account to every hectare on the planet. This allows land cooperatives, managers, or owners to offer ecosystem services measured in nature. Companies, in turn, can invest in on-balance-sheet natural capital contracts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Landbanking Group aims to expand its customer base<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The fresh capital will enable the Landbanking Group to expand its customer base in the agricultural and food sectors. Furthermore, the startup aims to tap into new markets in infrastructure, energy, and financial services. Furthermore, the financing will enable the development of monitoring models for additional ecoregions and the expansion of agricultural land into nature conservation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
