Munich Startup:<\/em> What does your startup do? What problem do you solve? <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Andreas Michel, Locaboo:<\/em> Locaboo<\/a> focuses on digitizing and automating the management of municipal resources and properties. Our cloud-based solution enables the efficient management of public buildings such as sports facilities, community centers, cultural and event spaces, and much more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Citizens can easily request these online on the respective city websites or even book them directly. Our software optimizes and analyzes capacity utilization and usage intensity. Thus, our solution not only automates processes and improves citizen services in cities and municipalities, but also creates a data basis for future urban development topics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Locaboo aims to modernize and replace inefficient practices<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Munich Startup:<\/em><\/strong> But that's been around for a long time! <\/strong>

Andreas Michel:<\/em> In fact, the current status quo in many places is based on manual management methods, often relying on Excel, Outlook, and endless email traffic. Our mission is to modernize and replace these inefficient practices. Our focus is on comprehensive facility management and stakeholder management. We support the entire process from start to finish, from resource and customer management to booking and occupancy planning, which forms the core. Billing, invoicing, and the provision of data and reporting are integral parts of our approach. What many cities and municipalities value about our solution is the ability to cover virtually every municipal use case with a single platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Munich Startup:<\/em><\/strong> What is your founding story? <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Andreas Michel:<\/em> The actual founding of the Locaboo GmbH<\/a> In our case, it was the culmination of a development process. Years ago, Michael completed his IT training in a district town and recognized back then that the administrative processes for municipal buildings and properties, particularly the occupancy of sports facilities, were still very manual and poorly digitized. The realization that these buildings remain unused for up to 90 percent of their lifetime ultimately encouraged us to tackle this issue together. The focus was not just on digitizing administration. Our goal was and remains to create a sustainable solution that enables everyone to efficiently utilize the diverse resources available while simultaneously improving the quality of life in cities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Munich Startup:<\/em><\/strong> What have been your biggest challenges so far? <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Andreas Michel:<\/em> Where do I start? New challenges arise almost every week. It's a rollercoaster ride that anyone who has ever founded or worked in a startup will be familiar with. Initially, the biggest hurdle was certainly acquiring important and relevant customers in order to be able to provide meaningful references. Unfortunately, this is often a chicken-and-egg problem, as many customers request references that aren't available at the beginning. However, we have now gained over 500 cities, municipalities, and districts in the DACH region as customers, which solves this problem. The current challenge, therefore, is certainly keeping up with the growing number of customers in Customer Success. We are currently working on this challenge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Munich Startup:<\/em><\/strong> Where would you like to be in one year, where in five years? <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Andreas Michel:<\/em> Our focus remains on the public sector. The municipal market remains underdeveloped when it comes to modern SaaS solutions. With over 500 customers in the DACH region, we have already established a strong footprint in advancing this sector in the digitalization and automation of key processes. In five years, however, we envision ourselves expanding beyond the DACH market and into other European countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Good chances of becoming a shooting star<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Munich Startup:<\/em><\/strong> How have you experienced Munich as a startup location so far? <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Andreas Michel:<\/em> It's impressive how Munich has developed, especially in the last 10 years, in terms of events, financing, networks, and the willingness to create new things. We're excited about future developments and are confident that Munich is the right location.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Munich Startup:<\/em><\/strong> Hidden champion or shooting star? <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Andreas Michel:<\/em> At this point, I'd say we're a hidden champion. Not only have we been self-financed since day one, but we've also been profitable with over 10 employees, which has given us plenty of freedom in our company's development. However, with the govtech sector currently gaining momentum, I believe we have a good chance of becoming a rising star.<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
