Munich Startup: <\/em>What does Twinu do? What problem does it solve?<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Christian Adler, Twinu:<\/em> We help manufacturers and brands of physical products successfully manage the transformation from a linear to a circular economy. Our software solution enables companies to measure and specifically improve the circularity of their products. This means how long and well they can keep their products in circulation (even across multiple users) before they are ultimately collected and recycled. After all, the longer a product is used and the more people it is used by, the better it is for the environment. This also includes transparency about key product materials and properties, so that products can be used more sustainably, repaired, and valuable materials reused. More and more companies have recognized this and are seeking appropriate digital solutions. In addition, there is an EU regulation from the 'Green Deal' that is intended to promote precisely these improvements: the Digital Product Passport<\/a>It will become mandatory for almost every product type over the next few years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Munich Startup: <\/em>But that's been around for a long time! <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Christian Adler, Twinu:<\/em> Unfortunately not. Otherwise, our world would already be more circular, and we wouldn't be receiving so many requests for discussion from companies desperately seeking solutions for the circular economy. The transformation to a circular economy is probably the biggest transformation our economy has ever undergone. For millennia and up until today, we humans have operated in a "linear" way by mining natural resources, manufacturing products, using them (usually for too short a time), and ultimately disposing of them (usually by burning them or dumping them in landfills). This must change if we want to protect our climate. Approximately half of CO2 is attributable to the production and consumption of physical products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Positive impact of digital twins<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Munich Startup:<\/em> What is your founding story? <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Christian Adler, Twinu: <\/em>We are three founders and digital experts who have known each other for many years, partly from consulting jobs, partly from academia (CDTM). Based on our professional experience, we decided to expand the use of digital twins to applications beyond development and production in companies. To this end, we developed a unique technology and filed a patent, while simultaneously testing the numerous potential use cases with customers and companies. It quickly became clear that our digital twins have their greatest impact on people, the environment, companies, and our startup in the circular economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Munich Startup:<\/em> What have been your biggest challenges so far? <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Christian Adler, Twinu:<\/em> Our technology and solution is based primarily on Digital Twins and AI <\/a>and is very flexible in its application. It can solve many problems in many industries. However, as a startup, you have to quickly focus on your niche with the greatest impact. This always sounds easier in theory than it is in practice, when requests for other problem areas from various industries continue to come in and you sometimes have to say "no." But we've done it successfully and clearly defined and focused on our "circularity sweet spot."<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Munich Startup:<\/em> Where would you like to be in one year, where in five years? <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Christian Adler, Twinu:<\/em> In one year, we will have successfully rolled out our current projects in our focus sectors, primarily electronics, furniture, and textiles. We will also have completed the certification process we have initiated regarding our own social and environmental impact. In five years, we see ourselves as the leading provider of digital product passports and digital product twins, which make physical products not only more sustainable but also functionally better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Good mix of science, business and startup ecosystem<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Munich Startup:<\/em> How have you experienced Munich as a startup location so far? <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Christian Adler, Twinu:<\/em> With its universities, the CDTM, the UnternehmerTUM, and many other institutions and strong companies, Munich offers a very good mix of science, business, and the startup ecosystem. Regarding our core topic of "Circularity," more and more is happening in Munich, for example, within the framework of the Circular Republic<\/a>As a startup, we also receive a lot of support from the City of Munich in the form of numerous startup offers, but also through the City of Munich's Net Zero target for 2035, which underscores the necessity of our solution for product circularity, as well as many other projects in the Munich area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Munich Startup: <\/em>Risk or security? <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Christian Adler, Twinu:<\/em> Definitely risky! There's no startup without risk. Otherwise, it's not a startup, and you're not creating anything truly new.
