Munich Startup:<\/em> What does Knowron do? What problem do you solve?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

Knowron:<\/em> We've made it our mission to address the skills shortage. To achieve this, we want to fundamentally change the way service technicians in the manufacturing industry work by increasing their productivity and relieving them of tedious tasks. We're achieving this with an AI-powered personal assistant that fits in every pocket. An app that bundles complex machine expertise in one place and eliminates hours of searching with its NLP-powered search function.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the same time, we offer detailed analytics for managers to identify knowledge gaps in the workforce and optimize processes. Our solution incorporates knowledge management, ensuring that workers don't take their knowledge with them into retirement. It also allows young workers to be trained more quickly and always have an "experienced colleague" on hand, even for complex tasks. This way, we avoid knowledge loss and also significantly simplify access to this knowledge. We have observed a productivity increase of up to 25 percent among mobile workers. Because solutions to problems can be found quickly and easily using the assistant's AI-supported search, time is not wasted on hours of searching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Knowron Assistant as Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) in a subscription model<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Munich Startup:<\/em><\/strong> But that's been around for a long time! <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Knowron:<\/em> Our software is a rapidly scalable platform. We developed it in close collaboration with companies like ASMPT and Voith to ensure a problem-fit and the best possible user experience. We offer the Knowron virtual assistant as Software as a Service (SaaS) <\/a>We offer a subscription model. Thanks to standardized tutorials and bulk upload, we can quickly onboard new companies. Furthermore, data security is a top priority for our customers\u2014and therefore for us, too. We often work with sensitive data from companies that require the highest security measures in our software.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Munich Startup: <\/em><\/strong>What is your founding story? <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Knowron:<\/em> Before founding Knowron, Ali, Arturo, and Fabian worked partly independently and partly together on various projects for renowned mechanical engineering companies such as Kuka, Siemens, and BMW. These projects revolved around developing solutions to support professionals in their work. Through our extensive work on these use cases and our research in the natural language processing (NLP) field, we recognized the connection between the problem and the solution. Especially given recent advances in NLP with transformers and similar technologies, we realized there was great potential for our use case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We finally founded our company in 2020 and initially received support through a funding program from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. We then decided to participate in the Alchemist Accelerator program in Silicon Valley. This support gave us the financial freedom to implement our initial ideas and build an impressive network, including valuable input from other startups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Munich Startup: <\/em><\/strong>What have been your biggest challenges so far? <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Knowron:<\/em> Well, where do we begin? It's always a back and forth process \u2013 especially when working with sophisticated AI models. It's probably in the nature of things that you simply have to do trial and error. And we've certainly made a few other mistakes. For example, developing something too quickly, simply because we could and wanted to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Munich Startup: <\/em><\/strong>Where would you like to be in one year, where in five years?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Knowron:<\/em> Now that we've confirmed our product-solution fit with customers in the semiconductor industry, we plan to expand our customer base next year and adapt our software to additional industries. We see the renewable energy sector as particularly attractive in this area. Wind turbines, solar panels, and hydroelectric power plants require regular maintenance by mobile service personnel. The market is growing rapidly, and the demand for technicians will continue to rise. Therefore, centralized and accessible knowledge management, along with the associated high productivity and rapid onboarding, offers a significant competitive advantage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Where do we see ourselves in five years? Our first goal is to be present among our customers and users. We are determined to make Knowron the standard solution for knowledge management in the blue-collar sector. We want engineers to love our product so much that they encourage their companies to adopt Knowron.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From a strategic perspective, we see significant scope for innovation to support deskless workers across all sectors. The so-called AI revolution has largely overlooked them. This is particularly deplorable in Europe, given the acute skills shortage. We believe Knowron plays an important role in making tech work more accessible to everyone, especially skilled immigrants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Internally, we want to keep the startup spirit alive regardless of the size of our company and attract and retain talent by combining growth opportunities with a positive work culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From Silicon Valley back to Munich<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Munich Startup: <\/em><\/strong>How have you experienced Munich as a startup location so far? <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Knowron:<\/em> Although we initially had the opportunity to found our company through the Alchemist Accelerator in Silicon Valley, and two of our co-founders had already conducted research in the US (Stanford and MIT), we consciously decided against this option. We are convinced that Munich has an outstanding talent pool and provides us with excellent access to global market leaders in mechanical engineering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Munich is also invaluable for us as a startup location because we have the network around the CDTM, TU Munich, and the UnternehmerTUM. The unique, supportive ecosystem here enables a lively exchange among us. We can learn from other founders who have already successfully completed certain phases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Munich Startup: <\/em><\/strong>Hidden champion or shooting star?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
