The spin-off from the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics (IPP) was recently <a href=\"\/en\/91953\/proxima-fusion-pre-seed\/\">financing of 7 million euros<\/a> complete. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gauss-fusion.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Gauss Fusion<\/a> Based in Hanau, the startup is a European industrial initiative founded by companies from Germany, France, Italy, and Spain. The startup also pursues the magnet-based fusion approach and, in addition to IPP, collaborates with CERN and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). <a href=\"https:\/\/focused-energy.world\/#\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Focused Energy<\/a> is a German-American company spun off from the TU Darmstadt that is pursuing the laser-based fusion concept.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The three partners expect their cooperation to not only provide greater leverage for further technological leaps toward the commercialization of fusion energy. They also plan to collaborate on the development of binding legal and regulatory frameworks and support the training and continuing education of specialists. Furthermore, they aim to promote broad and informed public acceptance of fusion energy. To this end, the partners have launched the &quot;#Fusionista&quot; movement, which is aimed at the general public and especially the younger generation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u201cA sustainable future in Germany and Europe\u201d<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>&quot;To secure the energy supply of the future, we need a smart energy mix. Wind and solar must be supplemented by another baseload energy source that is renewable, safe, and emission-free.
