1st place:<\/strong> 4.screen<\/strong>, a Munich-based automotive startup, secured first place this month. The company attracted attention at the beginning of April with a financing announcement of 21 million euros. Series A round<\/a> S4S Ventures and Continental Corporate Venture Capital, among others, participated. Founded in 2020, the startup is developing a platform for real-time interaction with drivers that connects digital vehicles with the businesses along their route. Global and local brands can thus interact with drivers directly through their car screens. By leveraging vehicle sensor data such as location, engine type, car make, and fuel level or charge level, the platform provides drivers with contextual information about nearby businesses and locations such as parking lots, restaurants, or shops. This is intended to support drivers in their decision about where and when to stop during their journey. 4.screen intends to use the newly raised capital to advance its global expansion plans and further develop the platform. \"Tado\"<\/a>
2nd place:<\/strong> Second place goes to Tado<\/strong> with his expanded Series H of over 55 million euros<\/a>At the beginning of April, the Munich-based company's financing round was increased by a further 12 million euros, increasing its total from 43 to 55 million euros. Since its founding in 2011, Tado has been developing smart thermostats and solutions designed to help its customers reduce their heating costs \u2013 by an average of 22 percent, according to the company. In 2022, the company doubled its business with intelligent thermostats and service offerings. In addition to its smart thermostat business, Tado has also been involved in flexible electricity marketing since the beginning of last year. This year, the company plans to expand its energy management offerings for private households by combining its smart thermostats with dynamic energy tariffs. \"Modelwise\"<\/a>
3rd place:<\/strong> Also with financing it creates Modelwise<\/strong> in April among the top 5. The Munich-based industrial tech startup was able to Seed financing round with 2 million euros<\/a> ($2.2 million). Modelwise has developed an AI-powered software platform that helps engineers keep track of safety analyses right from the design phase. It automates technical tasks, helping improve results and save time and money. This "spell checker for engineering models" is expected to benefit a wide range of industries, from aerospace and automotive to industrial automation. 4th place:<\/strong> Fourth place is shared by two Munich startups, both of which were featured in the \u201cLion\u2019s Den\u201d: Volummi and Articly<\/a>Both startups were able to convince the investor group with their presentation and secure investments. The founders of Volummi,<\/strong> who developed an innovative hair tie, chose an offer from Judith Williams and Tillman Schulz. Both offered 200,000 euros for 20 percent of the company. And Articlely<\/strong>, which offers newspaper articles for listening, accepted Carsten Maschmeyer's offer. The investor secured a 20 percent stake in the company for \u20ac70,000. 5th place: Tanso<\/strong> enables companies to determine their carbon footprint. This puts the Munich-based startup in a rapidly growing market: Until now, only large corporations were subject to CO2 emissions reporting requirements. Starting in 2025, however, every company with an annual turnover of over \u20ac40 million, a balance sheet total of \u20ac20 million, or more than 250 employees will be required to calculate and publish its carbon footprint as part of its regular annual reporting. Tanso received \u20ac2.5 million for its product development through the EIC Accelerator program in March 2023.
