Vintage meets high-tech: A dream combination for young city dwellers. The Munich-based startup The Tash produces "Smart Pocket Watches"\u2014smartwatches in the form of pocket watches.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Instead of having to take the smartphone out of your pocket every time you get a notification, just look at your watch \u2014 for early adopters<\/em> Smartwatches are nothing new. The Munich-based startup The Tash is now preparing to integrate smartwatches into hip vintage pocket watches. Founder Peter Paul explains:<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have spoken to many potential users who are already looking forward to no longer having to constantly take their smartphones out of their pockets.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

<\/h3>\n

The highlight: No annoying charging<\/h3>\n

The Tash One<\/strong> \u2014 that's the name of the first model \u2014 can easily keep up with the leading models in terms of technology: touchscreen, 1.2 GHz quad-core CPU, 1 GB RAM, IP67-certified. Unlike other smartwatches, the larger display also runs a browser. We tested it munich-startup.de<\/a> on the Tash One and were able to use all functions.<\/p>\n

The real highlight, however, is that there is no need for annoying charging. The watches are charged via a fuel cell<\/strong> The hip companions get their hydrogen from the ambient air. Paul promises:<\/p>\n

\u201cIf the Tash One runs out of power, the user simply puts his watch in the charger for five to ten minutes. open windows<\/strong> and the battery is fully charged again.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

If this works as promised, it is surely an absolute killer feature.<\/p>\n

Market launch planned for Munich, Tel Aviv and New York<\/h3>\n

From today April 1<\/strong> Customers can pre-order Tash One. True to the style, however, only in select stores. Paul doesn't want to reveal which ones:<\/p>\n

\u201cOtherwise the bearded hipsters will come running down our door.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

By the end of the year, The Tash plans to shake things up in Tel Aviv and New York. Peter Paul expects a huge rush, but isn't too worried about supplies: The young entrepreneurs already have entire containers of old pocket watches in stock, just waiting to be converted into Tash Ones.<\/p>\n
