For the sixth time, the Startup radar<\/a> 2022 qualitatively and quantitatively assesses the quality of start-up support at German universities. The Start-up Radar is compiled every two years by the Stifterverband f\u00fcr die Deutsche Wissenschaft (Stifterverband) in cooperation with the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK). The survey differentiates between large, medium-sized, and small universities. According to the initiators, almost 62 percent of all German universities and higher education institutions participate. The survey, which can achieve a maximum of 60 points, considers seven components: 1. Entrepreneurship integration, 2. Raising start-up awareness, 3. Start-up qualification, 4. Start-up support, 5. Start-up activities, 6. Monitoring and evaluation in start-up support, and 7. Networking in start-up support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After 2012 and 2016, the HM with its Entrepreneurship Center SCE<\/a> In 2022, it held the top spot for the third time. Second and third place among the large universities are occupied by Saarland University (58.2) and the University of Potsdam (57.9), ahead of the winner of the last Founding Radar in 2020, the Technical University of Munich (TUM), which now ranks fourth with 56.8 points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe density of the peak is high\u201d<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Prof. Dr. Martin Leitner<\/strong>, President of the HM, is pleased with the success of his university:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

"We are very happy and proud about this confirmation of our pioneering role in startup support in the German higher education and university landscape. I was particularly pleased with the excellent ratings of the HM across the board, i.e., across all seven components. Nevertheless, we have no intention of resting on our laurels, because the Startup Radar ranking also makes one thing clear: the concentration at the top is high, and there are many very good universities and UASs that are achieving extraordinary results in entrepreneurship teaching, startups, and transfer."<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Prof. Dr. Thomas Stumpp<\/strong>, Vice President of Economics at the HM, adds:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

"The ranking also highlights how well we can fulfill our role and self-image as an entrepreneurial university in Munich's innovation ecosystem. Together with our partners, we want to build bridges from academia to business and civil society. We achieve this through the founding of startups, but also through entrepreneurially minded employees and well-trained specialists in knowledge, technology, and idea transfer in this economic metropolis."<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Seeking joint entrepreneurial answers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Prof. Dr. Klaus Sailer, <\/strong>CEO of the SCE, summarizes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

"We see the ranking as an invitation to work with as many colleges and universities as possible to further promote the important topics of entrepreneurship and founding. Last year, we celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Strascheg Center at HM, and we have achieved a great deal during this time. We have now grown together with our partners, both regionally and increasingly internationally, into a connected startup ecosystem, working together to create impact and seek entrepreneurial answers to the considerable challenges we face, both small and large."<\/p>

The Munich University of Applied Sciences (HM) and the Munich University of Applied Sciences (SCE) occupy the top position in the "Large Universities" category, i.e., universities with over 15,000 students, in the 2022 Startup Radar. The HM achieved 58.9 out of a possible 60 points in this Startup Radar.
