Munich Startup: <\/em>What is your Startup<\/a>What problem are you solving?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dzekson Sedlakovic, Vystem: <\/em>Imagine a platform that combines the core functions of companies like Eventbrite, Vimeo, and Zoom into one platform. With our web OS and integrated solutions for video on demand, webinars, video conferencing, attendee management, and ticketing, we're a strong competitor to large international providers, helping event organizers plan, execute, and follow up on virtual, hybrid, and live events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That also answers your question. Instead of various tools that are difficult to coordinate with one another, Vystem is a full-service provider that bundles these solutions on a single platform, developed in-house, and thus offers event organizers the opportunity to save on licensing costs and reduce operational costs. This also means that teams and organizations no longer have to build up expertise for various different tools, but can instead focus on their own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dzekson Sedlakovic:<\/em> Yes and no. All relevant functions for event organizers are combined in a single solution. Our modular system also allows for design that incorporates your own corporate identity, allowing event organizers to present their event in their own look and feel. We offer event organizers the opportunity to skillfully showcase speakers, partners, sponsors, or their specialist departments as exhibitors and speakers. This makes us particularly strong in the conference segment of all kinds. Combined with our GDPR-compliant framework, our offering is more than competitive. And let's be honest: A little competition and a breath of fresh air from Munich invigorates the industry, even across borders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is highly valued by agencies such as Territory and direct customers such as the DGNB, the Ernst Abbe University of Jena, the AOK and public sector customers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Munich Startup:<\/em> What is your founding story?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dzekson Sedlakovic:<\/em> Making a virtue out of (the pandemic's) necessity is probably the right phrase for our story. One of our clients, whom we were advising on digital issues, found itself with its back against the wall when the pandemic broke out and needed a multifunctional solution to conduct its career events virtually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In short: Vystem was born. Timeframe: 6 weeks. The core competencies surrounding hosting guests, presentations, and streams remained the same since its founding. However, we quickly realized that our solution was relevant to more than one customer and shaped Vystem into the full-service provider we are today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Munich Startup:<\/em> What have been your biggest challenges so far?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dzekson Sedlakovic:<\/em> You're starting 2020 with a solution where, due to the pandemic, demand skyrockets within a few weeks. Recognizing which areas need to be structured and how to enable scaling, optimizing operational processes internally and for your customers, and establishing a business model that's easy to understand, makes business sense, and enables and secures healthy growth in the long term. Learning from these questions and dealing with the results is undoubtedly crucial for us, too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vystem: \u201cOur customers feel that we don\u2019t stand still\u201d<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Munich Startup:<\/em> How are things going?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dzekson Sedlakovic:<\/em> Business is developing well and gaining increasing momentum. Our day-to-day operations are stable, allowing us to focus on the aforementioned optimization of internal processes. We previously positioned ourselves very broadly to also offer customized solutions for live event organizers in the areas of attendee management, ticketing, and admission management. This allows us to balance fluctuations in the virtual event sector and become an all-in-one provider for all things event-related.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This commitment was recognized by the Bayme-VBM Agile Award in the special category for companies with 5 to 10 employees. We are very proud of this award, which recognizes companies for their successful application of agile methods. We look forward to continuing to promote our agile way of working. The monthly updates also ensure customer-oriented use of our platform during development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our customers sense that we're not standing still, but that our market share offensive has only just begun. With virtual reality, big data, advertising, and mobile first, there are more than enough future topics and opportunities in the event industry now and in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Munich Startup:<\/em> How have you experienced Munich as a startup location so far?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dzekson Sedlakovic:<\/em> With Vienna and Munich, we have two locations that offer a great infrastructure for startups and their employees. In Munich, we have our main location in Plant1<\/a>, which offers us the ideal ecosystem as a startup. We continually benefit from the exchange and the networks we have been able to build in this way, among other things. We also benefit from a strong and innovative Bavarian economy and customers who consciously rely on local providers, are curious, and want to make a difference. We would choose Munich again. Due to my place of residence, we have a second location in Vienna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Munich Startup:<\/em> Outsource or do it yourself?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dzekson Sedlakovic:<\/em> It depends on the topic and the timing. At the beginning of our journey, we decided to develop the platform ourselves in Munich. This also allowed us to retain full control over the internal processes and results. This gives us the opportunity to make adjustments and changes quickly and very agilely, independent of external providers. However, there are certainly areas where we start with outsourcing and, if the assessment is positive regarding long-term need, begin to build this expertise internally.
