Florian Stein,<\/em> Avantpark:<\/em> We offer parking operators a complete digital solution for parking space management \u2013 from maximum parking time controls to parking permits and parking space management to e-charging stations with integrated monitoring functions. We rely on GDPR-compliant license plate recognition technology, which enables completely barrier-free and paperless parking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most companies, regardless of industry, own a parking lot, but parking space management isn't part of their core business. Managing parking spaces costs time, money, and a lot of effort. In fact, the parking lot is often the first and last touchpoint a company has with its customers, significantly impacting the entire customer journey and customer satisfaction. We want to reduce this effort for parking lot operators while simultaneously creating a positive parking experience for their customers. We offer parking lot operators everything from a single source: from planning and hardware to installation, commissioning, and beyond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our customized services can be flexibly combined and all include access to our Avantpark customer portal and automated tracking of parking violations. The customer portal allows parking permits to be managed and anonymized parking data to be viewed. This can help identify potential as well as weaknesses and adapt strategies accordingly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Munich Startup:<\/strong><\/em> But that's been around for a long time! <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Florian Stein<\/em><\/em>: You always have to put the whole thing into the context of the local market. Unlike in other countries, professional parking space management using license plate recognition is actually still quite new in Germany. Of course, there are already solutions for controlling and managing parking spaces: barrier ticket systems or manual control with parking discs or parking tickets. However, these still have many disadvantages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Barrier systems are costly and prone to damage. The customer journey is also far from optimal: there are often queues and backlogs at the barrier. Taking and storing a parking ticket is associated with a certain level of stress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThanks to automation, 24\/7 control is possible\u201d<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Manual enforcement, again, consumes significant resources and is incomplete. Parking spaces can rarely be monitored 24\/7, regardless of weather. This leads to parking violations going unpunished and, in the case of paid parking, revenue being lost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With our digital parking system, we counteract all of these disadvantages. Automation enables 24\/7 monitoring and reduces the workload for parking operators. However, our customers retain control over what's happening and the regulations in their parking lot. Our customer portal also provides them with a better overview. Because the tracking of parking violations is handled on our behalf, our customers' brands remain protected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Munich Startup:<\/strong><\/em> What is your founding story?<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Florian Stein<\/em><\/em>:<\/em> Avantpark<\/a> was founded in 2020 from the British parent company Parkingeye Ltd. Parkingeye is already the market leader for digital parking management in the UK and can look back on over 18 years of experience with more than 3,500 managed parking spaces. Recognizing the potential of this solution for the German market, Parking Solutions Deutschland GmbH was founded, operating under the brand name Avantpark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course, we benefit from the experience of our parent company and can draw on it extensively, especially when it comes to development. However, in Germany, we are still a young company that is constantly growing and developing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Problem: Unknown license plate recognition in Germany<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Munich Startup:<\/strong><\/em> What have been your biggest challenges so far? <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Florian Stein<\/em><\/em>:<\/em> The lack of familiarity with license plate recognition in Germany is a clear indicator. We all know it: anything new and therefore unfamiliar is initially met with skepticism. "I already have a barrier system. It's fine," is a saying we hear often. But as the saying goes: Just because something works doesn't mean it can't be improved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is exactly where we come in. We educate our customers and potential customers about the functionality and benefits of our solution. Together, we identify the problems they face in their parking lots, understand their requirements, and develop a customized solution. Once the optimization potential has been identified, they suddenly say, "Aha, yes, we can do that!" We are happy to provide the initial educational support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Munich Startup:<\/strong><\/em> Where would you like to be in one year, where in five years? <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Florian Stein<\/em><\/em>:<\/em> In 2023, two topics are our top priority. Firstly, our newest product "ParkEV<\/a>", electric charging stations with integrated control functions, which are unique on the German market. This allowed us to expand our customer offering with something that is currently one of the most exciting and important topics in the mobility industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Secondly, we're focusing on further, sustainable growth this year. "Sustainable" because we not only want to acquire new customers. We also want our team to grow at the same time. Only then can we meet our high service standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In five years, we aim to be Germany's leading provider of digital parking management using license plate recognition. Since we are already present in Denmark and Austria, we also want the Avantpark brand to become the international partner for parking operators in the parking industry. In this way, we want to help lead the world of parking into a digital future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the way to becoming a shooting star?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Munich Startup:<\/strong><\/em> How have you experienced Munich as a startup location so far? <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Florian Stein<\/em><\/em>:<\/em> Currently, we're located in Unterf\u00f6hring, a neighboring municipality of Munich. But we don't see that as a disadvantage at all\u2014quite the opposite. We've been able to expand and have everything under one roof. That would be difficult in the city center. When Avantpark started, however, we were based in a co-working space right next to the Siegestor, where we also had contact with other startups. So maybe we can have some say after all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Especially at the Pay<\/a> The number of newly founded startups in Munich shows that the location is becoming increasingly popular. There are good reasons for this: an entire ecosystem of investors, funding programs, and partners for startups has now developed here. But the talent pool is also huge. We really like that, and we welcome every new application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Munich Startup:<\/strong><\/em> Hidden champion or shooting star? <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Florian Stein<\/em><\/em>:<\/em> Currently a hidden champion on the way to becoming a shooting star. As mentioned, we, and the topic of license plate recognition, are still relatively new in Germany.
