Three companies selected by the Culture and Creative Industries Competence Team recently moved into their stores in Munich's city center for a year: "The Happy Club" in the Ruffinihaus, "Tom Rebl" in the City Hall, and the "Munich Graffiti Library" in the arcades of the Munich City Museum. Last week, the residents were welcomed by Municipal Affairs Minister Kristina Frank, Economic Affairs Minister Clemens Baumg\u00e4rtner, and Cultural Affairs Minister Anton Biebl.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New impulses essential in the city center<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Economic Advisor Clemens Baumg\u00e4rtner<\/strong> sees the following main advantages in promoting interim uses:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

"With interim use, creative professionals can raise awareness of their own brand, present their projects to a wider audience, and thus attract new target groups to the city center. This is not only in our interest from an economic development perspective, but is also a major plus for Munich's location marketing."<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Municipal Officer Kristina Frank<\/strong> is pleased about the new additions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

"Even after the coronavirus pandemic, space remains a scarce commodity in Munich. In the constantly changing city center, new impulses are essential. With these three new store concepts, we can, on the one hand, help avoid vacancies and, on the other, provide space for ideas that are valuable for our social interactions."<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

And cultural officer Anton Biebl <\/strong>highlights:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

"Munich has a diverse, inspiring creative scene. We want to increase its visibility. Highly frequented locations like the Old Town are ideal for this. Munich stands for creativity, art, and culture \u2013 this must be experienced in the city center! For Munich residents themselves and for the numerous guests from all over the world."<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

3 stores, 3 concepts<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The creative studio founded by designer Michaela Huml \u201cThe Happy Club\u201d<\/a> invites you to print workshops and exhibitions on the topic of "Risography," a stencil printing process similar to screen printing. In addition, the #kreativmuenchen shop at Rindermarkt 10 sells print products by Risography artists from Munich and around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Munich Graffiti Library<\/a> With the temporary use of the space at Rosental 16, the association aims to make the graffiti art collection curated by Benjamin Schandelmaier, Bernhard Valenta, Petra Weigart, and Lorenz Wittmann accessible to a wider audience in the form of a reading library. In addition to selling selected new releases, individual pieces, and publications from the in-house publishing house, the organizers plan to host readings, video screenings, exhibitions, and panel discussions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tom Rebl<\/a> plans to use the #kreativmuenchen store in the town hall on Dienerstra\u00dfe to host exhibitions, collaborations with regional and international designers, theme evenings, panel talks, and projects with young designers. The fashion designer, who is returning to his hometown of Munich from Milan, aims to create a space for interdisciplinary exchange on the topic of design and to help increase the visibility of his own fashion label.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interim use for 12 months<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The shops will be occupied by the three actors until the end of June 2023 (Munich City Museum) or the end of September 2023 (Town Hall and Ruffinihaus) and will then be rented out again for a period of twelve months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The use is made by the Referat f\u00fcr Arbeit und Wirtschaft<\/a>, the Municipal Department<\/a> and that Cultural Department<\/a> enabled and through the Competence team for cultural and creative industries<\/a> implemented and accompanied by the state capital Munich.<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
