Following behind are the city of Ingolstadt, the city of Wolfsburg, the B\u00f6blingen district, and the cities of Darmstadt and Stuttgart. With the Starnberg district in ninth place, the Munich metropolitan region is represented three times in the German top ten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Future Atlas: High proportion of ICT employees<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The city of Munich is characterized by a high density of <a href=\"\/en\/86556\/university-ranking-munich-universities-are-the-best-in-the-eu\/\">Universities<\/a> and research institutions, as well as the large number of top companies located there. The state capital received the best rankings in the areas of labor market, competition and innovation, and the current strength of the business location. Furthermore, the gross domestic product recorded significantly stronger growth between 2015 and 2020 than the national average. Munich also ranks among the top ten in terms of the number of start-ups. According to the report, 6.9 percent of employees in Munich work in the future-oriented IT and telecommunications services sector. After Berlin, this is the second-highest figure in Germany.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Munich district performs strongly in the same categories of the Future Atlas as the city of Munich, even ranking ahead of the city in each category.
