The joint venture will develop, operate, and maintain a network of charging stations for electric vehicles in public urban spaces. Qwello will contribute its user platform and charging technology. Acciona Energ\u00eda, in turn, will supply the planned charging points with renewable electricity and be responsible for their operation and maintenance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The charging stations will primarily be 11 kW charging points. The companies hope to solve two fundamental problems with them: the availability of public charging stations in cities and their ease of use. In Spanish cities, only 2 percent of charging points are publicly accessible, which amounts to approximately 60 public charging points in cities like Madrid and Barcelona.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

explains Henrik Thiele, Managing Director of Qwello. His company<\/a> already operates several hundred charging points in European cities such as Stockholm, Frankfurt, Munich, and Berlin. The startup's charging stations are equipped with user-friendly features, such as icon-based user communication for universal use, options for contactless credit card or mobile payment, and an integrated cable with a Type 2 plug, as well as a Type 2 socket for users who prefer to use their own cable. The associated app handles billing, reservations, and location searches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
