The second day of Bits & Pretzels begins with confusion for many visitors to the startup festival. The startups they met at the exhibition the day before have suddenly disappeared without a trace. In their place are completely different young companies. Of course, this is no coincidence, but rather in keeping with the Bits concept \u2013 many visitors were unaware of the information that the exhibitors would be swapping places and would only be at the fair for one of the two days. The second day of the Founders Festival is dedicated to the "Golden Pretzel," Bits & Pretzels' pitch award. After the jury has made a shortlist of all applicants, the main finalists will pitch to the jury over the two days of the fair. They will be divided into categories. The Munich startups Sushi Bikes<\/a>, Noyes Technologies<\/a> (in the picture Marco Pr\u00fcglmeier, co-founder and CEO of Noyes, during his pitch on the Green Stage) and Buycycle<\/a> For example, the semifinal on Commerce & Marketplaces will be featured. The semifinal on Digital Sovereignty will include, among other things, Vaeridion<\/a> from Munich. For the startup's founders, this is their first visit to a Bits & Pretzels event; they only founded their company in 2021. Before that, they worked for many years in the industry. Co-Founder Ivor van Dartel<\/strong> says: "The first Bits is very refreshing for us. This is a new world that we are now part of." The startup is working on a solution for the electrification of air traffic. From its presence at the trade fair and especially from the pitch at the competition, he hopes to draw attention "for projects like ours that address the world's major problems. The era of SaaS should be over now, please. I believe the future lies in hardware." In addition to Vaeridion, the Munich startups are also pitching Reverion<\/a>, Exomatter<\/a> and Kiutra<\/a> in this semifinal. (Photo: M. The Spotlight Stage is all about fast-growing startups. The young companies are given ten minutes each to introduce themselves and answer questions from the audience and moderator Magdalena Oehl. Naturally, a startup from Munich kicked things off: Fernride<\/a> is working on bringing autonomous driving into logistics. The young company offers a solution that enables remote operation of electric trucks in enclosed areas such as company premises or ports. This simultaneously trains the company's AI, which is expected to take on more and more tasks behind the wheel in the future. After the pitch, however, things are only really getting started for the startup at Bits, explains CEO and co-founder Hendrik Kramer<\/strong>"I think we have 20 investor meetings here over the next two days, so we're having many, many good discussions with investors who will hopefully help us grow Fernride even faster." Bits & Pretzels is something of a home game for Fernride: In 2020, the company won the Munich Startup Award here, back then under the name Pylot. (Photo: M. Of course, Munich startups are present not only in the pitch competition, but also at the exhibition: A total of around 70 of the nearly 250 exhibitors come from the state capital. The reasons for this vary. Kiutra<\/a> For example, Kiutra not only pitches to the competition but also recruits new talent. Talks with investors are also going well, as can be seen at the booth. The Proptech Properbird<\/a> is using the startup fair to once again explain the company's pivot. Co-founder Omar Dahroug (left in the picture) summarizes the development as follows: "We had a Check24 format and tried to offer the best offer by comparing real estate agents based on data." The challenge, he continues, was that selling a home is a very emotional and personal matter. Either you have the right contacts or the established digital real estate agents will strike. Instead of seeking funding to challenge these providers, the bootstrapped company decided to take a different approach. "We have all the data and we've been selling it on; that's how we've financed ourselves for the last year and a half," explains Dahroug. "So we're now going full-on beta sales. That means we've built a data platform that we can use to create a decision-making basis for banks and appraisers so they can properly track the market."
