The Magazino GmbH <\/strong><\/a>was founded in 2012 by Frederik Brantner<\/strong> (Commercial Managing Director), Lukas Zanger<\/strong> (Technical Director) and Nikolas Engelhard<\/strong> (Head of Software Development). The rapidly growing team, with diverse skills\u2014from years of experience in mechanical engineering to doctoral degrees in robotics, research in image processing, and a professorship in combinatorial optimization\u2014is working intensively on the development of disruptive robotics solutions.<\/p>\n

Originally founded as a project of the Technical University of Munich, Magazino, now based in Laim commercial yard<\/strong>, still maintains close contact with Germany's famous technology company. Since its founding, the startup has repeatedly been Award winners<\/strong> various competitions, including the Bavarian business plan competition evobis, bestofmunich and the idea challenge<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Co-founder Frederik Brantner<\/strong> took the time Munich Startup<\/strong> to answer a few questions about Magazino's career in Munich.<\/p>\n

Why did you choose Munich as your location?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Hardware and robotics are a perfect fit for Munich: There are suppliers, investors, and partners like the Technical University of Munich \u2013 this density is not found anywhere else in Germany.<\/em><\/p>\n

What obstacles or setbacks did you face after founding your company? How did you overcome them?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Many things only worked on the second attempt\u2014which means you just have to keep at it and not get discouraged. Things take longer, hardware development is expensive, and sometimes it takes time to convince all partners and investors.<\/em><\/p>\n

What do you think is the secret behind your success?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Following a clear vision in a large market with a great team. We're taking on a tough challenge, but it's worth it.<\/em><\/p>\n

A tip for founders on how to best implement an idea in order to be successful with it?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Talk to a lot of people about it! So get feedback \u2013 that always helps. Don't be afraid to share your idea \u2013 in the end, it's just a matter of implementation and inspiration.<\/em><\/p>\n

What are your company\u2019s plans for the future?<\/strong><\/p>\n

With the shelf robot, we want to become the market leader for piece-precise logistics robots.<\/em><\/p>\n

Fast and automatic with Magazino<\/h3>\n

Magazino develops, builds, and markets innovative automated storage and picking systems. These enable highly efficient, accurate storage and retrieval of a wide variety of items. The company currently offers stationary solutions for two industries.<\/p>\n

On the one hand, it distributes the first round and therefore extremely compact Order picking machines<\/strong> Maru<\/strong> for pharmacies. Thanks to its innovative design, Maru<\/strong> very fast and can store packages directly from the box delivered by the wholesaler and recognizes barcodes and expiration dates independently.<\/p>\n

Magazino's Pick & Place Station Kado \u00a9 Magazino<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

On the other hand, Magazino developed the Pick & Place Station Kado<\/strong>, which recognizes many products even without a barcode using modern 2D\/3D image recognition. Connected to an existing paternoster or AKL, it picks Kado<\/strong> the delivered products automatically and sends them on to the packing station for transport, for example.<\/p>\n
