Munich Startup:<\/em><\/strong> What does your startup do? What problem do you solve?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mitai:<\/em> Have you ever wondered why cabin crew ask you to turn off your electronic devices before takeoff and landing? One of the reasons is that radio waves\u2014or electromagnetic waves\u2014from electronic devices can interfere with vital aircraft components and therefore pose a threat to the aircraft's avionics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This applies not only to electronics in aircraft, but to all types of electronic devices. These can interfere with other electronic devices or be interfered with by them. Therefore, all electronic devices for all types of applications must comply with certain electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) regulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Typically, electronic devices are tested for EMC in a dedicated laboratory environment as soon as the first hardware is available. In more than 90 percent of cases, new electronic product designs fail EMC certification, and design engineers must redesign their product from scratch to meet EMC requirements. Compliance with EMC requirements therefore has a significant impact on the cost and time to market of new products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mitai: <\/em>Mitai\u2019s software solution is unique in that it aims to Detect EMC problems before they occur during testing<\/a>To achieve this, our experts analyzed numerous designs that passed and failed EMC compliance testing. Furthermore, our software incorporates years of experience from experienced development engineers in solving EMC problems. This multi-stage approach helps electronics developers bring their designs to market faster than ever before. With its flexible configuration options, Mitai's solution supports the product development process at various stages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Munich Startup:<\/em><\/strong> What is your founding story?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mitai: <\/em>Mitai emerged as a startup from TDK's global incubator program. The TDK Global Incubator Program explores ideas for new companies in a protected environment with the support of a professional business development team. From around 60 ideas submitted by employees across TDK, Mitai's idea of helping customers in all electronics areas avoid EMC problems was selected for the incubator program. The main aspect of our idea was how we could help customers solve their EMC problems, not just with EMC components, which are one of TDK's core businesses, but in a different way. With our idea, we pursued an approach that went beyond EMC components.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

"<\/strong>The topic of EMC is very complex\u201d<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Munich Startup:<\/em><\/strong> What have been your biggest challenges so far?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mitai: <\/em>EMC is a very complex topic. Finding EMC problems in the design data and making recommendations for solving them is even more complex and requires extensive EMC expertise, which TDK possesses. Our biggest challenge at Mitai is to package all of this EMC expertise into a software solution. At Mitai, the EMC experts must work very closely with the software engineers to reduce EMC complexity for our customers so they can benefit from our software solution. The key to this is speaking the language of both fields: electrical and software engineering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Munich Startup:<\/em><\/strong> Where would you like to be in one year, where in five years?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mitai: <\/em>Our goal is to have the first customers using our service in their daily development within a year. We help them save a lot of time and money by getting EMC design right the first time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In five years, we want to become the industry standard for achieving EMC compliance first time when developing electronic products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mitai aims to become the world's most important player in EMC<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Munich Startup:<\/em><\/strong> How have you experienced Munich as a startup location so far?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mitai: <\/em>Munich is the right place for us now. It's the perfect location to find the right talent. There are many startups in the field of electrical engineering and electronic product manufacturing with which we can collaborate. Munich is home to top universities and large companies in the field of electrical engineering. This gives us a strong network with which we can collaborate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Munich Startup:<\/em><\/strong> <\/strong>Hidden champion or shooting star?<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mitai:<\/em> We see ourselves more as a hidden champion than a rising star. We only founded Mitai on April 1, 2022. We are still closely associated with TDK and are not visible as an independent company. Our goal is to establish Mitai as a new brand under TDK.
