The plans for a new start-up and innovation center<\/a> Nothing stands in the way for Munich: the city council has given the green light for the project.<\/strong><\/p>\n

As already reported, the joint project between the city and UnternehmerTUM<\/a> The focus is on the topic of "Smart City." A meeting place for international teams is planned. UnternehmerTUM offers special support programs for this purpose. A total of 40 international startups are expected to be established.<\/p>\n

Opening planned for 2019<\/h3>\n

Starting in 2017, the 10,000 square meter site of the creative quarter at Leonrodplatz will house office and event space, coworking spaces, and a maker space. The City of Munich is providing the land on a long-term lease and the connections to the city. UnternehmerTUM is contributing its leading European expertise and networks and will cover the costs of construction and operation of the new building.<\/p>\n

The opening of the new start-up and innovation center is planned for 2019.<\/p>\n

Contacts with technology companies and venture capital<\/h3>\n

The focus is on, among other things, close connection with the Munich university landscape<\/strong>TUM and Munich University of Applied Sciences are already close partners in this area, particularly through the TechFounders<\/a>, which currently has around 100 companies in its network, is to intensive cooperation between the innovation center and established technology companies<\/strong> The TechFounders network currently includes major players such as Siemens, Munich Re, and BMW. The goal is to connect the technological ideas of the founding teams with suitable established companies.<\/p>\n
