Blackwave develops and manufactures highly complex carbon components<\/a>that cannot be manufactured using conventional manufacturing processes. The components are characterized by their low weight and high stability. As reported by Handelsblatt, Blackwave has now completed a new financing round and raised a total of 4 million euros.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new investors include Ann-Kristin Achleitner, a professor at the Technical University of Munich who, among other things, is a member of the supervisory board of UnternehmerTUM and an investor in Isar Aerospace, and her husband Paul Achleitner, who serves as chairman of the supervisory board of Deutsche Bank. Alpine Space Ventures is also participating in the round. The Munich-based investor is led by Joram Voelklein. The investment partner is B\u00fclent Altan, who not only worked at SpaceX for over 10 years \u2013 most recently as Vice President \u2013 but currently holds the position of CEO of Mynaric and, together with Joram Voelklein, also holds a stake in Isar Aerospace. As part of the investment, Altan will now also join the advisory board of Blackwave, according to Handelsblatt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Blackwave focuses on New Space customers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The concentration of new space capital at Blackwave is no coincidence. Carbon components are significantly lighter than other materials. And since every gram counts in space travel, Blackwave's products are of great interest to the industry. Co-founder Bastian Behrens revealed his startup's corresponding goal to Handelsblatt: 70 percent of the company's customers are to come from the aerospace industry this year. Blackwave's customers already include well-known corporations in the sector, such as Airbus, the US company Pratt & Whitney, and ESA. Munich-based startups such as Isar Aerospace, Vectoflow, and Fazua are also relying on the technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Blackwave plans to invest the funds it has now raised in the development of standardized products. Since the startup has previously manufactured custom products for its customers, it hopes to achieve lower prices this way.
