Munich Startup: <\/em>Who are you and what do you do? Please introduce yourselves briefly!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wellster Healthtech Group: <\/em>We are Dr. Manuel Nothelfer and Nico Hribernik and in November 2018 Wellster Healthtech Group<\/a> Manuel is 42 years old and, after receiving his doctorate in economics from the University of Witten\/Herdecke, gained strategic experience for several years as a consultant for the Boston Consulting Group, specifically in the insurance and healthcare industries. Later, as co-founder of betreut.de (merger with Care.com), he led his company to its IPO on Wall Street. Nico is 38 years old, studied international business administration at the Vienna University of Economics and Business, and subsequently managed several billion-dollar B2C brands in various markets as a brand manager for Procter & Gamble. After initial entrepreneurial successes in Asia, he most recently served as Head of Brand at Flixmobility<\/a>In 2018 we met by chance at an event organized by HV Capital <\/a>Together, we recognized two things: the digital healthcare industry will change everything in the future \u2013 but there is a critical gap in care. The idea for Wellster was born.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Munich Startup:<\/em> What problem does your startup solve?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wellster Healthtech Group:<\/em> Many people with everyday health problems don't go to the doctor. One reason, among many others, is ignorance that their symptoms are medical. Complicated procedures further hamper motivation to act: The general practitioner issues a referral to a specialist, but the appointment is followed by a long wait. The patient then has to fill the prescription at the pharmacy. This hurdle is exacerbated by the lack of motivation that comes with psychological stress in addition to the symptoms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wellster operates fully integrated online platforms, making it possible to visit a doctor even from home. The doctor makes the diagnosis remotely, and the prescription is sent to a mail-order pharmacy or a local pharmacy, depending on the patient's preference. Our doctors digitally record treatment success and continuously optimize it. This overcomes the key barriers of the conventional healthcare system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWellster appeals to all those who are aware of their problem but are still afraid to go to the doctor.\u201d<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Munich Startup:<\/em> But that's been around for a long time!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wellster Healthtech Group:<\/em> There are already many telemedicine providers on the market. The problem: They primarily target those who already consciously want to see a doctor. They are trying to replace the existing system rather than improve it. This is a pure shift from offline to online. Wellster appeals to all those who are aware of their problem but still shy away from seeing a doctor \u2013 even though diagnoses and corresponding treatment options are available. We therefore primarily use traditional marketing channels such as TV or outdoor advertising to raise awareness of our purely digital treatment offerings, thus directing customers directly to our fully integrated solution platforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Munich Startup:<\/em> What have been your three biggest challenges so far?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wellster Healthtech Group:<\/em> Compared to other areas of daily life, the medical and pharmaceutical market is just at the beginning of its digital transformation. Therefore, there are still many areas of tension between conservative and progressive players that affect us legally and regulatory-wise. We are very pleased about this: Firstly, through our medical studies with the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and the University of Freiburg, we were able to pioneer telemedicine worldwide. Furthermore, we convinced leading physicians and pharmacists in Germany of the significant benefits our offerings offer for healthcare provision and research. Today, we work hand in hand with most of the players to establish new standards in telemedicine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Munich Startup:<\/em> Where would you like to be in one year, where in five years?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wellster Healthtech Group:<\/em> With Wellster, we aim to build and establish the largest and most caring healthcare company in Europe. Specifically, this means becoming the first point of contact for patients for all their home healthcare needs. Initially, until mid-to-end of next year, our focus will be on Germany, where we aim to expand our product offerings for existing and new target groups. We are focusing on mental health and networking with local medical services. Long-term, we aim to expand into five European countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wellster Healthtech Group:<\/em> We're incredibly happy here. As one of Germany's five startup hotspots, we believe Munich has everything successful startups and their teams need. We love the city for its dynamism and quality of life. Internationally recognized medical institutions like the Technical University of Munich and the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich ensure that relevant experts from Germany and around the world find their home here. This naturally also benefits startups in the digital healthcare industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Munich Startup:<\/em> Quick exit or long breath?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wellster Healthtech Group: <\/em>Since our launch in May 2019, more than 1 million people have already used telemedicine consultations via Wellster's platforms. Our studies show that more than two-thirds of them have never seen a doctor before for their problem. This alone demonstrates how much impact we can have. We want to take on long-term responsibility.
