While 35 percent of those surveyed by the Bavarian Research Institute for Digital Transformation (bidt) worked from home before the outbreak of the pandemic, this figure had risen to 39 percent in June. At the peak of the lockdown in March, the figure was 43 percent. An even more striking difference is the proportion of respondents who work from home at least several times a week: before the crisis, this was 23 percent, compared to 32 percent in June. The main reason employees cannot work from home is their job: 80 percent of those who have never worked from home state that this is generally impossible due to their job.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u201cWe should see the corona-related promotion of home office as an opportunity\u201d<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>At 85 percent, the vast majority of home office users are satisfied with their situation. The lowest level of satisfaction is found among respondents with a child under the age of 14 in the household. However, 78 percent of study participants still express satisfaction with their home office situation.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among those employees who generally consider working from home to be possible in their job, 69 percent would like to work from home more than before, even after the Corona crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>&quot;Employers and employees should view the corona-related push for home office as an opportunity. Now it is time to negotiate the long-term use of flexible working arrangements,&quot; <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>says <strong>Roland St\u00fcrz<\/strong>, one of the authors of the study. It is important to combine the advantages of working from home with the benefits of working on-site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cWorking will become more flexible,\u201d <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>says bidt director <strong>Dietmar Harhoff <\/strong>and emphasizes the associated innovation boost in companies: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cFlexible working models will now lead to increased digitalization of processes, improved efficiency, and thus increased productivity.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Even months after the start of the coronavirus crisis, a significant portion of German workers are still working from home.
