According to <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/de.statista.com\/themen\/3112\/retouren-im-online-handel\/\" target=\"_blank\">Statista<\/a> In Germany, around 490 million items in over 280 million parcels were returned in 2018. The cost was around 5.5 billion. The return rate is particularly high in the clothing and footwear sector, with an average of one in three items being returned, according to the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.retourenforschung.de\/definition_statistiken-retouren-deutschland.html\" target=\"_blank\">University of Bamberg<\/a>. In addition, the returns must be reprocessed before they can be put back on the market. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/ehi-siegel.de\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">EHI<\/a> Here the cost per article is on average 10 euros, the University of Bamberg even costs over 15 euros. <a href=\"\/en\/day\/presize\/\">Presize<\/a> is tackling the problem of high return rates in the fashion industry with its mobile body scanning technology. You can find out exactly how the startup does this starting at minute 5:10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The problems of e-commerce are well-known on the last mile: After everything has been quick and smooth online shopping, customers have to wait for their goods. In the worst case, they arrive when they aren&#039;t available to receive them. Then they have to chase after their packages. The three startups <a href=\"\/en\/day\/tiramizoo\/\">Tiramizoo<\/a>, <a href=\"\/en\/day\/parcellab\/\">Parcellab<\/a> and Emmasbox have set out to solve this problem \u2013 albeit in different ways. While Tiramizoo takes care of the shipping itself, Parcellab aims to improve parcel tracking. <a href=\"\/en\/day\/emmasbox\/\">Emma&#039;s Box<\/a> in turn, sells pickup boxes. You can find out the details at minute 10:25.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The third pain point of online retail, which we explore in the podcast, is customer loyalty\u2014or rather, the lack of it. After all, online, competitors with supposedly better offers are always just a few clicks away. Retailers can retain customers with bonus programs. But what has long worked well in brick-and-mortar retail, and is also successfully demonstrated by Amazon with its Prime offering, has long been neglected by many online shops. <a href=\"\/en\/day\/loyalty-prime\/\">Loyalty Prime<\/a> has set out to change this with its SaaS-based customer loyalty platform. However, retailers who find this too much of a good thing can also start by offering better service than the competition \u2013 for example, by using services such as those from Presize, Parcellab or <a href=\"\/en\/day\/adnymics\/\">Adnymics<\/a> You can hear everything else about this from minute 20:00.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">From e-commerce to digital health<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In the second part of the podcast we take the <a href=\"\/en\/61516\/kaia-health-23-million-series-b\/\">23 million investment<\/a> in Kaia Health.
