The Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL)'s 'Too Good for the Bin 2020' competition is seeking creative concepts that address the problem of food waste. The application deadline is October 13, 2019.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to startups, companies, restaurateurs, agricultural businesses, scientific institutions, private individuals, NGOs, municipalities, and initiatives can apply. You can submit your applications here<\/a> submit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The prize is awarded in the categories of trade, gastronomy, production and agriculture, society and education, and digitalization. There are also sponsorship prizes worth a total of 15,000 euros. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Competition 'Too good for the bin 2020' aims to promote sustainability<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

With this competition, the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture wants to declare war on food waste and sustainable concepts<\/a> promote. Federal Minister Julia Kl\u00f6ckner<\/strong> says:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

"(\u2026) Sustainability and appreciation play a role, especially when it comes to food waste. This starts at home, because too much food ends up in the trash every day. We can all contribute to reducing this amount in our everyday lives. This is effective resource conservation and climate protection. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

She further adds:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

"With our National Strategy, we are resolutely addressing this issue along the entire value chain. Our goal is to halve per capita food waste at the retail and consumer levels by 2030. Innovative and clever ideas from dedicated food savers, whom we are once again supporting and honoring with our Federal Award this year, will help us achieve this." <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
