Just in time for the two-year anniversary of Recup<\/a> The Munich-based startup is launching a test phase with Rebowl, a reusable deposit box that is intended to serve as an alternative to disposable packaging in the food sector.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

What works for coffee will soon also be applied to the food sector: a deposit system for takeaway food. In a three-month test phase, Recup, together with five local partner restaurateurs, plans to examine how a deposit system for takeaway food packaging can work. At the same time, Vanilla Bean, a packaging-free delivery service from Regensburg, is also using Rebowls during the test phase. Recup and Vanilla Bean want to jointly evaluate how a reusable deposit system can be implemented in the food sector. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Find resource-saving alternatives<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The aim is to permanently avoid the large amount of disposable to-go packaging and to offer a resource-saving alternative without having to forego the convenient options of takeaway and delivery services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Test phase Munich: How it works<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In Munich, customers order their takeaway food from one of the five local catering partners in the Rebowl and pay a \u20ac5 deposit for the reusable container. Empty containers can be returned to the participating partners for a refund. The containers are cleaned on-site and then immediately reused. Siggis, Orange Box, Aloha Poke, Mutter Erde, and Ida's Milchladen are participating in the test phase in Munich. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Customer feedback desired<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

"Our goal is to eliminate disposable packaging in the to-go sector. In addition to coffee to go, the food sector is a major topic here. We are pleased to be working with Vanilla Bean to make the important area of delivery services more sustainable in the future. The numbers speak for themselves: In Germany alone, 10 million people ordered food online and had it delivered in 2016." <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

so Fabian Eckert<\/strong>, one of the two founders and managing directors of Recup. After two years of existence, the Munich startup is thus expanding the deposit concept to another product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The feedback from participating restaurateurs and customers during the three-month test phase will be actively incorporated into the development of the new deposit system, so that Rebowl can become a resource-saving and waste-avoiding alternative to disposable packaging. In this context, Recup is also pleased about User feedback<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Guests also bear responsibility<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The five testing restaurateurs are pleased to be contributing to the development of a deposit system in the takeaway sector as Rebowl partners. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
